Artist Statement
What does it mean to live in a society that demands the woman’s identity and role to be multiplicitous? “Pieces of Me: The First Memory” is a short dance film that journeys through the multiplex of ingrained values, experiences, and thoughts between two
women from two very different backgrounds- one from a matriarchal society, and the other, a child of patriarchy; two opposites yet balanced on a single spectrum. The film’s multiplicitous aesthetic and dynamic is influenced by Laban’s effort graph from
Laban Movement Analysis.

theArtists network was founded in 2020 by professional dance artist and producer Anna Watkins. Creating a platform to profile professional dance artists from cross art forms, providing a hub to collaborate.
This network presents talented young, mid career and experienced dance artists with a wealth of creativity to share with you as a collaborator.

Anna has created a new dance film whilst in lockdown in collaboration with talented composer and singer-songwriter Zosia Jagodzinska.
'A reflection of freedom and the enemy, finding the light through the darkness of isolation. Trapped, restricted and addicted, a complex mixture.'
Anna and Zosia have been working together on various projects for several years now and each time the process is an enjoyable and inspiring one!
We hope you enjoy IDENTITY and it brings some creative energy to your day!

Both classes are emphasised on the therapeutic side of dance. We will use our unique body as an engine to move and feel energised. I will encourage you to explore and expand the unknown abilities you have already within you. My aim is to have a nice flow throughout the class and heal any anxiety from body & mind!

To celebrate, we are sharing the full length short dance film MRS OATH. This film was created in 2018 as part of our Spring 2018 Tour, funded by Arts Council England and produced by Anna Watkins and Film Oxford.
'MRS OATH was inspired by focusing on the equality of women. Our behaviours and instincts in society. Celebrating 100 years since women were able to vote. It's time we all made a change.'

We will have two yoga classes this week on Instagram live! Our usual Saturday class at 12 and an additional class on Sunday evening. The class on Sunday is called RELAX&RESTORE. It will be based from a yoga style called Yin Yoga. The class will take your through a series of poses all about releasing tension in the body and finding the ultimate relaxed state.
